The Conservatives have announced their candidates for the upcoming Hertford Town Council by-elections, scheduled for Thursday, 19th September. Ryan Henson will be standing for Hertford Castle Ward, while Sue Barber will contest the seat in Bengeo North Ward.
Ryan Henson, who grew up in Hertford and attended Morgan’s School, is determined to challenge the Labour and Green-led Town Council’s recent decisions, which he argues have burdened residents with unnecessary costs. Reflecting on his selection, Ryan stated:
“I’m delighted to be standing in Hertford Castle. I live in Hertford, I went to Morgan’s School, and I’m determined to hold the Green and Labour Town Council to account. This year, Labour and the Greens doubled Hertford’s Council Tax increase at a time when many residents are struggling to make ends meet. Over the next month, I look forward to meeting as many residents as possible and sharing my positive vision for preserving and improving our amazing town.”
Susan Barber, a resident of Bengeo, is equally committed to standing up for local people. She believes that the current council’s policies have been detrimental to the community, particularly their handling of council tax. Speaking about her candidacy, Sue said:
“I’m honoured to be standing in Hertford Bengeo. I live in Bengeo, and the Green and Labour Town Council needs to be held to account. I’ve seen first-hand how the decisions made by the Green and Labour Town Council have negatively impacted our community. The cruel inflation-busting doubling of the Council Tax increase is just one example of how out of touch they are with the realities people are facing. I’m looking forward to being in my community engaging with as many people as possible in the coming weeks to discuss how we can work together to make our area an even better place to live.”
Both candidates are focused on holding the current Labour and Green led administration to account and providing a clear alternative for voters in Hertford. They are passionate about ensuring that local issues are addressed effectively and that residents are supported during these challenging times.
With the by-elections fast approaching, Ryan and Sue will be listening to residents’ concerns and presenting their vision for a better Hertford. Both candidates have the experience, dedication, and local knowledge needed to make a significant impact on the Town Council.
Residents are encouraged to vote in the by-elections on Thursday, 19th September, and support candidates who will stand up for their interests and work tirelessly for the future of Hertford.
